Illustrated front board, decorated rear board, plain blue cloth spine with no titles. Illustrated endpapers. Inside, there are 12 full page, full color illustrations by D. Grant as well as over three dozen other smaller illustration done on the page and also in color. This would be a variant of what ERBFirsts.com shows as the first print run only had six full color illustrations and 36 black and white. This 6th printing comes with neither a dust jacket or a slipcase as issued in the first and second print runs respectively.

This delightful storybook tells about Little Big Bye-and-Bye who really REALLY wants a pony! His father told him he can have one when he is bigger, which seems marvelous at first - until he realizes he's not very big yet. Story and illustrations are by Holling Clancy Holling, who wrote and illustrated many wonderful Indian books such as "Claws of the Thunderbird", "Paddle-to-the-Sea", "Tree in the Trail" and others. The Hollings lived among Native Americans for a time, and their books have been praised for their authenticity.
